Counselor and Junior Counselor

QUALIFICATIONS
• Desire and ability to work with children outdoors

• Ability to relate to one’s peer group and accept guidance and supervision

• Ability to teach and assist in various camp activities

• Good character, integrity, adaptability, enthusiasm, sense of humor, and patience

• Professional appearance and well groomed

• Must possess a high school diploma or be at least 18 years of age (for head counselor)

• Must have a valid work permit if under 18 (for junior counselor)

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY
To identify and meet camper needs providing a positive camp experience.

 

Lifeguard

QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be at least 18 years of age

• Must possess valid Lifeguard Certification with CPR for Professional Rescuer

• Must possess Standard First Aid Certification

• Water Safety Instructor certification recommended

• Good character, integrity, assertiveness, enthusiasm, sense of humor, and patience

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY
To teach and help coordinate Sierra Canyon’s swimming activities and help maintain standards that lead to a safe quality program.

 

Specialists

QUALIFICATIONS
• Training and experience in specific specialty activity

• Posess a fun personality with a desire to work with kids of all ages

• Ability to teach skills and activities related to specialty

• Ability to set up specialty area and program

• Good character, integrity, adaptability, enthusiasm, sense of humor, and patience

• Must possess a high school diploma or be at least 18 years of age

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY
To plan, direct and lead the specific specialty program. A program is a camp activity
that campers will be attending with their groups throughout the day. (ie: Arts and Crafts, Music etc.) However, here at Sierra we are ALWAYS looking for new activities, so if you think you have something new to offer that is not under what we have listed below, please contact us and set up an interview today!

PROGRAM SPECIALIST OPENINGS
Baking If you love to bake and also love kids, this position is for you! We are looking for someone to bring the fun of cooking to our camp!

Youth Leadership (CIT) Program
Students entering 9th and 10th grade receive training and experience working with children in a summer camp environment. They learn valuable life skills pertaining to behavior management techniques, initiative experiences and role modeling. The camaraderie, friendships and lessons learned in the CIT program will last a lifetime! Many CITs have the opportunity to move upward within our staff to become future Junior Counselors, Counselors, Specialists and possibly Directors at Sierra Canyon. Those interested in becoming a CIT candidate are encouraged to download and complete the application and return it to our office.
